Title IX Coordinator

Title IX of the Education Amendments and Southern Illinois University Carbondale policy prohibits discrimination in the provision of services of benefits offered by the University based on gender. Any person (student, faculty or staff) who believes that discriminatory practices have been engaged in based upon gender may discuss their concerns and file complaints of possible violations of Title IX.

The Title IX Coordinator is designated by the University to ensure compliance with Title IX and the University’s Title IX program and other policies of SIUC. References to the Coordinator throughout this policy may also encompass a designee of the Coordinator for specific tasks.

 The Director of the Office of Equity and Compliance serves as the Title IX Coordinator's designee and oversees the implementation of this policy. The Title IX Coordinator has the primary responsibility for coordinating the University’s efforts related to the intake, investigation, resolution, and implementation of supportive measures to stop, remediate, and prevent Prohibited Conduct. In instances where one of the involved parties reports directly to the Chancellor, the Chancellor shall appoint an outside individual to act in the place of the Director and conduct any related investigation.
